Varieties of the Mallorca Designation of Origin:

Arbequina:

a variety from Catalonia, where it may have originally been brought from Majorca. It makes a very aromatic oil, soft and sweet. The olive is small and spherical. This oil is the basis of Verderol.

Piqual:

Variety of Andalusian origin, very productive, its oil has great character and is slightly spicy. Contributes to the stability of the Verderol blend. Empeltre:

Mallorca’s most traditional variety, very hardy, adapted to the island’s climate, provides a special flavour to the oil.

Hojiblanca:

Prestigious Andalusian variety, suitable for table olives and for high quality oil pressing, although production is limited.

Frantoio:

Tuscan olive par excellence, it makes an aromatic oil of high gastronomic value.
