OTHER VARIETIES VISITS TO THE OLIVE ORCHARD

ALGEBICÍ

Algebicí has taken the Arabic name of the farmstead that was assigned to Ramon Llull’s father in the Repartiment (distribution of land among the conquering Catalan nobility in 1230). The Picarandau SAT is located on land that belongs to this farmstead. The oil is created from experimental varieties, at present cannot be covered by the Appellation of Origin: the Frantoio (an Italian olive that according to the experts gives the world’s best olive oil) and Hojiblanca (native to Cordoba, gives an especially fine oil). Algebicí is obtained by very similar methods and subject to the same quality control as Verderol. For this product, we have opted for a later harvesting date, in order to obtain a sweeter, more mature oil that is more golden than green.

MONOVARIETAL OILS

If ordered ahead of time, we can reserve monovarietal oils from any of the varieties we grow: Arbequina, Picual, Empeltre, Frantoio, and Hojiblanca. Please contact us for conditions and to place an order.

INFUSED OILS

In 2012 we began producing oils infused with various natural aromas, which we are calling VERDEROLIS. The flavours we are currently selling are rosemary – perfect with meats, on bread, or in sauces – and vanilla, which gives an original flair to salads or desserts.

VISITS AND OIL TASTINGS AT THE ORCHARD

We can arrange visits to the olive orchard for groups or families — minimum six people – where we will present the different varieties and discuss growing methods and explain some of the local cultural heritage surrounding oil production. A tasting of Picarandau oils is included. Please contact us for conditions and to make a reservation.
